Since end of 2022, HRS’s generous donations have empowered impactful projects in Ethiopia, achieving milestones in community health and education. Through efforts ranging from secure access to clean drinking water to menstrual hygiene training, our initiatives are fostering healthier communities and schools.
For six years, the ‘John’s Rig’ well drilling rig has been bringing hope and clean drinking water to Ethiopia. More than 100 wells have been drilled and over 280,000 people finally have access to safe water – a real milestone! But this is just the beginning: together we want to take the next big step and build another 100 wells.
💧 over 100 wells built despite pandemic, civil war and locust plague
💧 partly 1 month drilling time for a well in the hilly Amhara region
💧 no cases of diarrhoea resulting in death among small children
We’ve achieved a lot, but our work is far from over. That’s why every donation counts in order to keep John’s Rig drilling. Not only the communities in Ethiopia still lack from a safe access to water. Also, worldwide over 700 million people are still without safe access to clean drinking water.
#LetsKeepTheWaterFlowing
In Ethiopia, contaminated water often causes diseases that claim more lives than violence or conflict. Access to clean water not only improves health, but also strengthens the community as a whole.
Women gain valuable time that they can use for their families and their development, and children – especially girls – can attend school instead of fetching water every day. Our WASH workshops (water, sanitation and hygiene) also promote long-term community self-sufficiency and stability.
We need your support to implement these important projects sustainably and improve the local quality of life in the long term!
